Mysterious condition makes teenager shed tears of blood

17-year-old Calvino Inman, has been suffering from this mysterious condition for two years even after consulting doctors -- because no one can figure out what's wrong with him.

Medical professionals remain baffled as to why Calvino sheds the frightening red tears, sometimes for up to an hour.

Blood also comes out of the 17-year-old's nose.

"This poor boy from Knoxville, Tennessee, US is one of only a handful of people who suffer from this strange phenomenon worldwide.

"The teenager reported that the bleeding happens all the time, even when he's in school.

"He feels a burning sensation when the blood tears come.
"He also said sadly that some people around him think he's possessed.

"I feel so sorry for the boy and his parents.

"They must be pretty desperate for a solution.

"Calvino is apparently undergoing tests to investigate whether his condition is being brought on by a tumour, tear duct problems, or a genetic defect

"I hope he gets to lead a normal life soon."

19-year-old student sells her underwear online. Legal or not?

The girl, who posted several photos of her in underwear on her blog, assures potential buyers that her panties will be worn for at least 12 hours.

If a customer buys two pairs of her panties, which cost $45 for each pair, she will throw in a video to 'prove that she is female'.

A 20-second clip, which was e-mailed to a buyer, was shown to The New Paper. It shows a woman taking off her panties twice, before appearing nude at the end of the clip and saying that the video was for the buyer, courtesy of 'Felicia. Her face cannot be seen in the video.

Mr Josephus Tan added that even if the video did not show any nudity, it could still be an offence under the Films Act if the acts in the video were obscene or sexual in nature.

For reproducing an obscene film, 'Felicia' can be fined up to $40,000 or jailed up to two years, or both.

The people who received her video can be fined $1,000 for each copy they possess or jailed up to a year, or both.

One interesting fact uncovered in the news report is that Felicia is not the only person in Singapore selling her used panties, as there are at least 10 advertisements on both men's and women's underwear on local websites.

The demand for used undergarments apparently arises due to a fetish experts call paraphilia -- sexual arousal triggered by objects or situations.

Psychiatrist Dr Tommy Tan told The New Paper that paraphiliacs are aroused by used panties -- the dirtier they are the better -- because they are very personal items.

He added that Felicia may also be getting some kind of satisfaction from selling her used panties, as she 'adores the attention of disrobing for her customers'.

According to The New Paper, Felicia has received requests for sexual services or for her contact number from netizens. She has apparently declined these requests, but said she was willing to perform some sexual requests 'off-camera' for those who buy her panties.

World's Fattest Man Manuel Uribe Goes on outing

Manuel Uribe, who once tipped the scales at 560kg, was hauled from his home on a forklift and loaded onto a platform truck for the weekend day trip, the Associated Press reported.

Mr Uribe, who now weighs around 310kg, stayed on his specially designed bed throughout the trip to the lake, where he dined on fish and vegetables.

It is the first time Mr Uribe has left his home in five months. Unable to walk, his last planned outing in March was abandoned after the platform carrying his bed got stuck under an overpass.

His last successful trip outside his home was in March 2007, when six people pushed his bed out to the street as a mariachi band played and a crowd gathered to greet him.
Before that, he hadn't left his home in five years.

Olbertz told, “This will probably be an entry into the Guinness book of world records, adding that Emirates Palace planned to contact the organisation about the tree which is to stay until the end of the year.”

Asked if the tree might offend religious sensibilities in the United Arab Emirates, where the vast majority of the local population is Muslim, Olbertz said he did not think it would. "It's a very liberal country," he said

The hotel has had a Christmas tree up in previous years, but this year "we said we have to do something different," and the hotel's marketing team hatched the plan, said Olbertz

The tree is not the first extravagant offering from Emirates Palace a massive, dome-topped hotel sitting amid fountains and carefully manicured lawns.

The hotel, which bills itself as seven-star, in February introduced a package for a seven-day stay priced at one million dollars.

Takers of the package have a private butler and a chauffeur driven Maybach luxury car at their disposal during their stay, as well as a private jet available for trips to other countries in the region.

And in May, the hotel opened a gold vending machine, becoming the first place outside Germany to install "gold to go, the world's first gold vending machine," said Ex Oriente Lux AG, the German company behind the machine.

Box office: "Tron: Legacy" races to top with $43.6 million

           First the good news. "TRON: Legacy" raked in some thoroughly respectable numbers opening weekend, pulling in $43.6 million. Undaunted by enh reviews, CinemaScore audiences awarded the Disney reboot starring this weekend's SNL host Jeff Bridges a solid B+ rating. IMAX and TRON made excellent teammates, as the movie earned $10.3 million - a quarter of its weekend kitty - in 234 IMAX theaters.


          But now, let's cue a wet raspberry sound. "How Do You Know," the big-budget, star-laden romantic comedy from James L. Brooks, came in at the No. 8 spot, making a lousy $7.6 million at over 3,061 theaters. That's miserable news for everyone involved, especially considering the fact that "Black Swan," starring a crazy-eyed Natalie Portman, made more money on some 2,000 fewer theaters. The Darren Aronofsky film, pirouetting into the No. 7 spot, jumped to 959 theaters this weekend with an impressive $8.3 million haul. (Consider that "Black Swan," which cost just $13 million, already has a cumulative gross of $15.7 million in three weekends of limited release. "How Do You Know" cost north of $100 million, and at this rate will be lucky to make a quarter of that back in domestic grosses.)

          Oh "Yogi Bear," you hoped more friends would show up to the picnic. The talking bear flick came in at No. 2 with $16.7 million. That's a far cry from Squeakquel numbers, the "Alvin & the Chipmunks" period piece that opened to $48.8 million on last year's Christmas weekend. But at least it's slightly better than "Marmaduke's" fate, which opened in June to just $11.6 million.


         "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" headed south to No. 3 with $12.4 million, bringing its cumulative two-week gross to $42.7 million. But how "The Fighter" swung for that top 3 spot. The boxing opus, aglow with six Golden Globe and four SAG award nominations, had a very good round this weekend, pulling in $12.2 million on 2,503 screens to land at No. 4.

14 Afghan soldiers, police killed in two separate attacks

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the two suicide attacks which left nine dead in Kabul on December 19, 2010

Kabul, Afghanistan (CNN) -- A total of 14 Afghan soldiers and national police officers were killed in separate attacks targeting the Afghan National Army on Sunday, officials said.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attacks on its official website, saying the two attacks were coordinated. In one of the attacks, two would-be suicide bombers in Kabul targeted Afghan National Army vehicles with firearms, said Khalil Dastyar, deputy chief of police in Kabul. Five soldiers were killed.
Police shot one of the would-be suicide bombers, at which point his bomb detonated, Dastyar said. The other would-be suicide bomber was shot and killed without his device going off.

In a second incident, three or four attackers targeted an Afghan National Army recruitment center in Kunduz province, killing four soldiers and five Afghan National Police officers, said Mohbiullah Saidi, a spokesman for the governor of Kunduz.

Two of the suicide attackers were killed Sunday morning, he said, while a third died after fighting authorities for hours.

The attacks come one day after German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited Kunduz. The trip took place two days after Merkel announced a planned reduction in troop levels; Germany has more than 4,800 troops serving with NATO's International Security Assistance Force.

Final lunar eclipse of 2010 set for early morning of December 21

Skygazers hoping to catch the last lunar eclipse of 2010 on Tuesday morning best be ready to stay up late (or wake up very early) to watch the full moon as it goes through a range of dramatic color changes.

The December 21 lunar eclipse is expected to last about three-and-a-half hours from its start as a partial eclipse at 1:33 a.m. ET to its finish at 5:01 a.m. ET, according to NASA. The previous lunar eclipse occurred June 26.

During a lunar eclipse, the moon, the Earth, and the sun align so that the sun's rays are shielded from the moon. An eclipse of the moon can only take place if the moon is full, and only if the moon passes through some portion of Earth's shadow, which is composed of two cone-shaped parts, one nested inside the other.

The start of the total eclipse is expected around 2:41 a.m, when the entire moon passes through the Earth's umbra, or inner shadow, which blocks all direct sunlight from reaching the moon.

The moon will take on a vibrant red color until 3:35 a.m., according to NASA.

Before and after the total eclipse, the moon will pass through the penumbra, or outer region of the Earth's shadow, where Earth blocks some of the sun's rays, but not all.

The entire event is visible from North America, Greenland and Iceland. Western Europe will see the beginning stages of the eclipse before moonset while western Asia will get the later stages after moonrise.
