AVG has released AVG Anti-Virus 2011, the newest version of its free antivirus. The earlier version AVG 9 Free is quite popular among My technology Guide readers and provides basic security tool for your computer protection against computer viruses and malware. The standard security module that AVG Antivirus Free Edition 2011 comprises of are Antivirus, Anti-Spyware, Email Scanner, Resident Shield, LinkScanner, Anti RootKit and PC Analyze.

AVG Anti-Virus 2011 (or AVG 10 Free Antivirus) includes enhanced LinkScanner for safer Internet surfing and Email Scanner. Other new features included are Social Networking Protection, Smart Scanning, Autofix Button, Community Protection Network, and Protective Cloud Technology. Windows 7 and Vista users also gets a desktop gadget, using which you can get access to virus scanning and update the AVG antivirus virus definition or program without opening the entire program.



AVG Antivirus Free Edition 2011 introduces an entirely new feature called PC Analyzer. This new module identifies Windows registry errors, disk errors, defragment disk and removes broken shortcuts. But on the downside, the PC Analyzer does not repair the detected errors. If you want to continue using PC Analyzer you have to get the premium version of AVG.
